NCA Extends Stakeholder Committee’s Work on DStv Pricing in Ghana

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced that the stakeholder committee tasked with evaluating DStv pricing in Ghana has been granted an extension to complete its work.
The committee, which began deliberations on September 8, 2025, was established to achieve a shared understanding of DStv pricing in Ghana and propose commercially viable measures to address concerns raised by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations. It is also expected to develop a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DStv decoders and services from Nigeria to Ghana.
According to the NCA, the committee had made significant progress but requested an additional week to finalise its recommendations. The request was approved by the Minister, pushing the submission of the committee’s outcome to September 29, 2025.
The regulator emphasized that the extension will allow the committee to present well-structured and mutually acceptable proposals that address both pricing concerns and piracy issues.
The NCA, established by law and mandated to regulate electronic communications in Ghana, noted that this process reflects its commitment to safeguarding consumer interests while ensuring fair and competitive practices in the broadcasting sector.
